Canterbury Farm Stay Accommodation

The multi-award winning Silverstream Alpaca Stud offers two self-contained farm stay cottages on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Our major point of difference is the inclusion of an escorted 45 minute  farm tour to see and feed the alpacas.

The cottages sleep a total of five guests per cottage and both cottages are identical apart from the décor.

There are two bedrooms – one bedroom has a Queen bed and the other bedroom has two single beds and a rollaway can be supplied for a fifth person.

Our Cottages

The farm stay cottage facilities include two bedrooms, a bathroom, lounge, modern kitchen and a carport. The kitchens have just been renovated and include an electric hobs, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, rice cooker, toaster, electric jug, cutlery and crockery. There is a heat pump for heating and air conditioning and electric blankets on all beds during the winter months.

Farm Tour

The farm tour is included in your stay (no need to book separately) and is the undoubted highlight during your stay at Silverstream.

Petting these amazing animals as they feed from your hands is an unforgettable experience. Photographs are encouraged and during the season, visitors can hold a baby.

Alpacas with their teddy bear good looks, long eye lashes, soft murmur and luxurious fleece captivate everyone.

Silverstream Alpaca Stud is a busy working farm and therefore we only supply breakfast. Guests can either prepare their meals in the cottage kitchen or they can drive into KAIAPOI, a five minute drive from our farm and has many casual dining options.

European, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Teppanyaki Japanese, Moroccan, Vietnamese, Bistro, Pizza, McDonalds, Subway, KFC and there are two large supermarkets if you wish to prepare your own food in the cottage kitchen. Most close at 9.00pm and reservations are not required.
